The last owner of this palace-castle was the successor to the Austrian throne Franz Ferdinand of Este, who lived here with his family until June 1914. His tragic death, in 1914, in Sarajevo, was one of the reasons after the start of World War 1, which caused more than 10 million victims and led to the end of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. In the castle, you can admire, among other things, period furniture, collection of paintings, ceramics, Czech and Italian (Morano) chandeliers, porcelain of Karlovy Vary, Czech porcelain and that from Meissen and other very beautiful objects. It´s really worth visiting the castle.
